Fabrication and characterization of novel biocomposite based on Sargassum vulgare for controlling sugar beet root diseases

Abstract Background Safe food free from diseases is the world's goal. Excessive usage of chemical fungicides considered most important danger for climate. Natural alternatives with low costs have become best choice sustainable agriculture. Results In context researching green materials instead fungicides, fabrication nano- Sargassum vulgare and its composite zeolite was carried out. Followed by an investigation efficiency their extracts on controlling sugar beet root rot caused soil-borne pathogens Rhizoctonia solani ( R. ), Sclerotium rolfsii S. rolfsii), Fusarium oxysporum F. oxysporium ) throughout two successive seasons (2020/2021 2021/2022) under greenhouse conditions. The structure morphology nanosargassum biocomposite were characterized FTIR, SEM, EDX, Zeta potential, size particles. morphological changed tubularly structured into layers stacked top each other after impregnation vulgare, reduced 85 to 50 nm, which confirmed through particle distribution. effective one in managing disease . It reduces severity (DS) incidence (DI) efficacy (91.08% 88.89%), respectively, compared that recorded commercial (63.09% 61.81%). same manner, extract highest percentage (76.04 55.27e followed (R. solani), (S. (F. oxysporium) solani. 55.27%), fungicide (67.74 36.92%). All applied treatments considerably DS DI At time, growth characteristics, sucrose, TSS percentages juice significantly improved when seeds treated extract. Conclusion newly fabricated facilitates movement macronutrients soil seed, turn improves characteristics sucrose yield quality juice, essential characters advance industry.
